Saint Tikhon, Patriarch of Moscow and Enlightener to America was born as Vasily Ivanovich Belavin on January 19, 1865 into the family of Ioann Belavin, a rural priest of the Toropetz district of the Pskov diocese. His childhood and adolescence were spent in the village in direct contact with peasants and their labor. From his early years he displayed a particular religious disposition, love for the Church as well as rare meekness and humility.

Saint Simeon the Stylite was born in the Cappadocian village of Sisan of Christian parents, Sisotian and Martha. At thirteen years of age he began to tend his father’s flock of sheep. He devoted himself attentively and with love to this, his first obedience.

Saint Peter of Athos, a Greek by birth, served as a soldier in the imperial armies and he lived at Constantinople. In the year 667, during a war with the Syrians, Saint Peter was taken captive and locked up in a fortress in the city of Samara on the Euphrates River.

A Fountain of Holiness: The Life of Saint John of Rila
Saint John of Rila, the great spiritual ascetic of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and Heavenly Protector of the Bulgarian nation, was born in the year 876 in the village of Skrino in the Sredets district [now Sofia].

Saint Herman the Missionary and Wonderworker of Alaska
Saint Herman of Alaska, America’s first canonized saint, was an Orthodox Christian monk of holy life who lived in Valaam Monastery in Russia. In 1794, along with nine other monastics he was sent to Alaska to evangelize the natives there. In time St. Herman would become the sole survivor of the original missionaries. Throughout his long life he cared for the natives of the Kodiak area, nursing them in their illnesses, educating them, and defending them from the abuse of the Russian fur-traders. By his meekness and firm faith he won the love and respect of all who came to know him, and inspired many to follow Christ. Eventually settling on nearby Spruce Island, he lived a mostly eremitic life, while also establishing an orphanage for the children of parents who had died during epidemics.

Chronicles of the Desert - Discernment: A Gift of the Desert
Saint Daniel the Stylite was born in the village of Bethara, near the city of Samosata in Mesopotamia. His mother Martha was childless for a long while and in her prayers she vowed that if she had a child, she would dedicate him to the Lord. Her prayers were heard, and Martha soon gave birth to a son, who was without a name until he was five years of age.

Chronicles of the Desert - The Irish Mystic of Glendalough
Saint Kevin (Coemgen) was born in Leinster in the early decades of the sixth century, the age of Saints Columba (June 9), Columbanus of Luxeuil (November 21), Comgall of Bangor (May 10), Finnian of Clonard (December 12), Kieran of Clonmacnoise (September 9), and many other great saints.This holy ascetic belonged to a noble family which had included several Kings of Leinster. He himself, however, was a model of humility and self-denial.

Saint Anysia the Virgin Martyr of Thessaloniki
The Holy Virgin Martyr Anysia lived in the city of Thessalonica during the reign of the the co-Emperor Maximian (286-305). Upon the death of her parents, who had raised her in Christian piety, Saint Anysia sold everything she owned, distributing her riches to the poor, and she began to lead a strict life of fasting, vigil, and prayer.

An Icon of Selflessness - The Life of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker
Our Holy Father Nicholas, emulator of the Apostles and ardent imitator of the Lord Jesus Christ, appears as a living pillar of the Church, zealous in defense of the faith and a model of pastoral solicitude for holy bishops. Through his countless miracles on behalf of the poor, the abandoned, of those suffering injustice and of all who call upon his fatherly protection, he has to this day shown himself “a good steward of the manifold grace of God” (I Peter 4:10).

Saint Bessarion, Wonderworker of Egypt was an Egyptian. He was baptized while still in his youth, and he led a strict life, striving to preserve the grace given him during Baptism. Seeking to become more closely acquainted with the monastic life, he journeyed to the holy places. He was in Jerusalem, he visited Saint Gerasimus (March 4) in the Jordanian wilderness, he viewed other desert monasteries, and assimilated all the rules of monastic life.

At St. Antony's Orthodox Church, Paul comes before God with prayers for the people he loves, seeking comfort amid fear, doubt, and suffering. Amphilochios: Saint of Patmos
Filmed during the first celebration of his April feast day in 2019, locals and pilgrims share their remembrances of St. Amphilochios (1889-1970), a tireless spiritual father, missionary, and founder of orphanages and monasteries. He was a spiritual son of St Nektarios of Aegina, and spiritual father of St Gavrilia, the Ascetic of Love. Metropolitan Kallistos Ware and he were both tonsured at the Monastery of St John the Theologian on Patmos.

IRACLIE PORUMBESCU: THE BEARER OF LIGHT
"Iraclie Porumbescu, the bearer of light" opens a window into the life of an exceptional soul: priest, writer and father of a great composer. Born in 1823 in Suceviţa, Iraclie Porumbescu rises from the conditions of a rural life, devoted to family and faith, and becomes one of the essential figures of Bukovina in the 19th century.

In Search Of Ciprian's Chernivtsi
September 2023, in the anniversary year of the 140th anniversary of Ciprian Porumbescu's death, 170th anniversary of his birth, and 200th anniversary of the birth of his father, priest Iraclie Porumbescu - a good opportunity for a pilgrimage to Chernivtsi. And we set off, a director (Cristina Chirvasie) and a great-granddaughter (Stanca Scholz-Cionca), in the footsteps of Ciprian, whose intimate diary from 1879, Journal of important events and incidents and other mischief, has just come out of print. We will search for the remains of Chernivtsi from the time of Franz Joseph, when it was the multiethnic, flourishing capital of the Duchy of Bukovina.

The documentary tells the story of Toma Arnăuţoiu (1921-1959), the cavalry officer who, after being put in reserve for political reasons, became the leader of the anti-communist resistance group from Nucşoara (Argeş County), which operated in the southern Fărăgaş Mountains. He was caught after almost 10 years and executed together with his brother.

Sorcery
Sorcery is a short documentary exploring the Orthodox Christian perspective on the occult, including practices such as spellcasting and fortune-telling. Through a four-part structure, the film examines why people are drawn to these practices, exposes their deception, and presents the teachings of the Holy Fathers on their spiritual dangers.In contrast, it highlights the true life found in the Divine Liturgy and the Eucharist, offering a clear and sobering call to discernment and a return to the fullness of the Church.

Searching for Rodakis
Chrysoula, who died in 1887 at the age of 17, was buried under the floor of her family's home in a small village 100 kilometres from Istanbul. Thirty-seven years later, due to population exchange, Chrysoula's family had to leave her buried under the house floor as they were deported to Northern Greece. A hundred years later, while renovating the floor of this old house, the family of a filmmaker living there discovered Chrysoula's tombstone. This film, directed by Kerem Soyyılmaz, is a story about the finding of the tombstone in 2016, the investigation into the family who owned it, and the search that concluded in Thessaloniki in 2022, told through the experiences of the director and his family.
