After killing the murderer of a local girl, Hurst becomes the town's hero. But he sees himself as less than that -- he feels that he has failed, becoming a murderer himself. He runs away from the village and escapes to the loneliness of the wilderness, were he can be alone with his thoughts. It seems like all hope is lost, when a mysterious stranger appears to give him another chance.
